At the beginning of the session, Feyzi, the NKUMS Dean of Public Relations & International Affairs stated that these meetings are held several times a year and we are honored to be the host to the second meeting of this council. “Holding such meetings get universities to become familiar with the experiences and approaches of other universities to the internationalization of medical education” he said.

He also added that NKUMS is a recently established university but thanks to the efforts of our colleagues of international affairs, showed remarkable advancements in the field of internationalization; Improvement of the rank of university in the Webometrics international ranking system is one of these advancements which was made by the efforts of international affairs, IT and website colleagues.

After that Dr. Zarei-Ghanavati, Director of Office of University Relations, International Affairs and Seminars of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (MUMS) said: “Quality is the principal issue in the internationalization and it must be the first priority. When we increase the quality, we take a major step in internationalization, in deed.” “Universities need to employ capable and interested people for their international affairs”, he added.

Dr. Amirkhani, Advisor to Deputy Minister of Health in International Affairs expressed that making advantage of the experiences of others, universities can move in the path of internationalization. He also said that international collaborations has never been as active as today. Then he gave a thorough report of examples of internationalization in Education, Research & Technology, Treatment (Health Tourism) and Health.

Following this, representatives of each university presented their reports and discussed the activities and initiatives that have been done.

The next meeting will be held in Birjand University of Medical Sciences as agreed.
