(As per the resolution of the 81st session of the Supreme Council for Medical Education Planning, dated Dec 14, 2021)
This policy outlines the status of non-Iranian students who obtain Iranian nationality during their studies at universities under the Ministry of Health.
1. Non-Iranian Tuition-Paying Students (via National Entrance Exam)
If they acquire Iranian nationality during their studies, they will become eligible for free education. Their admission quota remains based on the location where their high school diploma/pre-university certificate was issued.
Note 1: *These students must fulfill service obligations after graduation (similar to Iranian graduates), including compensation for the free education period.
Note 2: *If they choose to continue paying tuition, they will be exempt from the free education obligations but still subject to post-graduation service.
2. Non-Iranian Scholarship Students (Without National Exam)
If they become Iranian citizens, they must complete their education as tuition-paying students, similar to international campus students.
Note: *These students will be required to fulfill both service obligations and free education commitments based on their scholarship duration.
3. International Self-Financed Students (Without National Exam)
Upon acquiring Iranian nationality, they must complete their studies as tuition-paying students, same as international campus students.
Note: *They will be subject to standard service obligations after graduation, but not to free education commitments.
4. Graduates Who Change Nationality Before Receiving Degree
They must fulfill standard service obligations as per Iranian graduate regulations.
Students under categories 1 and 3 (who fully paid tuition) are not subject to free education obligations.
Only category 2 students (scholarship recipients) will be responsible for repaying their free education commitments.
