Board of Trustees
After a few years of centralized administration of universities, it was concluded that, according to their goals and structure, academic institutions need to be run by decentralized administration in order to pave the way for their independence and develop a creative and dynamic atmosphere to overcome and reduce narrowness of the bureaucratic processes within them. This would prepare them to face the problems of the third millennium for mass production of knowledge, new attitudes and applied and fundamental researches; therefore, in 1988, the law for establishment of the Board of Trustees for universities, research and higher education institutions was adopted by Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution (SCCR).
Establishment of the Board of Trustees was aimed at settling an authoritative body at the top of the organizational chart of the universities, research and higher education institutions in order to develop new innovative plans which causes in more sense of responsibility towards the society and more attempt to meet the needs of the community.
Law for the Fourth Economical, Social and Cultural Development plan of I.R.I. has provided the legal context for independence of the universities which is hoped to be fulfilled by wisdom and expert work.
