About North Khorasan

North Khorasan province is located in the northeast of Iran with an area of 28,179 km2 and a population of 997407 people. Bojnurd is the capital of the province and other counties are Jajarm, Garmeh, Esfarayen, Maneh, Samalqan, Shirvan and Farouj.

North Khorasan’s heritage includes many historical and natural attractions. A total number of 1300 historical relics have been recorded in the province by the Iranian Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism organization among which mineral water springs, small lakes, recreational areas, caves, protected, and various hiking areas stand out.

North Khorasan has a heterogeneous population, consisting of different ethnic groups, namely Fars, Kurd, Turk, and Turkmen tribes whose cultural mingling has made the name of 'Treasure of Cultures' becoming for the province.

Reduction of Resistance to Infections Due to Vitamin-C Deficiency

Severe vitamin C deficiency reduces resistance to infections, increases inflammatory reactions, and joint pain.

According to Webda, Dr. Mohammadreza Jalilvand, who is a faculty member of North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences and id the presidents of Iranian Society of Nutrition said: “Vitamins and mineral supplements taken in the form of supplements, should be taken with the advice of doctors and nutritionists, since their inappropriate use can have detrimental effects, depending on the type of supplement.”

Dr. Jalilvand said that the use of supplements in the current situation (spread of coronavirus) depends on the individual's condition and if the person is deficient in vitamins such as vitamin C, he/she can consult a doctor.

“Fever, shortness of breath, depression, muscle wasting, bleeding and swelling of the gums, fatigue, drowsiness and psychological changes are some of the symptoms of severe vitamin C deficiency” he said.

He noted that Vitamin-C is a water-soluble vitamin and has many antioxidants that are very useful and effective at this time and are found in foods such as lemon, lemon juice and fresh orange juice, bell peppers, oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, Strawberries, broccoli, onions and fresh vegetables and if you cannot get vitamin C through food, you can take supplements with the advice and prescription of your doctor.

He mentioned the gastrointestinal diseases can occur as one of the symptoms of vitamin C overdose and noted: there is a possibility of increasing the formation of oxalate kidney stones and increasing the accumulation of iron, diarrhea, bloating, etc. by receiving too much vitamin C. Therefore, this vitamin, like other vitamins, should be used with caution and by prescription of relevant specialists.
