The Chancellor of North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Seyed Ahmad Hashemi, has outlined the university’s plans to develop health tourism in North Khorasan and attract patients from neighboring countries.

The deadline for submissions to the First International “From Idea to Wealth” Festival, hosted by North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences, has been extended to October 23, 2026.

North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences (NKUMS) and Afghan Uzbek Medical Hospital, Afghanistan, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand cooperation in healthcare, telemedicine, health tourism, education, research, and the exchange of expertise.

The 1st Idea to Wealth International Festival (the 2nd National Festival) is held in September-October 2026 by North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences.

The long-standing aspiration of developing health tourism in North Khorasan has now become a tangible reality. What was once envisioned as a goal has today taken shape in the form of a remarkable achievement. In the latest step forward, a 66-year-old woman from Turkmenistan, who had traveled to Bojnord due to severe cardiac failure, was admitted to Imam Hassan (AS) Hospital on Wednesday and successfully underwent open-heart surgery performed by the medical team of North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences.

A joint meeting was held with the participation of the Chancellor of North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the province, and Ali Abbasov, a health tourism entrepreneur and member of the Chamber of Commerce of Turkmenistan, to discuss avenues for expanding bilateral cooperation in the fields of health tourism and international student recruitment.

Dr. Zafarghandi, Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, arrived in North Khorasan with the purpose of inaugurating and commissioning a series of significant healthcare projects across the province.

A specialized seminar on health tourism, alongside the introduction of the International Patients Department (IPD) of Imam Hassan (AS) Hospital, was held on Thursday, August 21, in the conference hall of the Private Sector Parliament of North Khorasan Province.

The Director of Medical Information and Research Officer at the Office of International Affairs of North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences announced the successful creation of the university’s profile in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, one of the most prestigious and influential international ranking systems.

A meeting was held with the participation of officials from various executive bodies, private sector representatives, and North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences (NKUMS) to discuss opportunities and strategies for developing health tourism in the province.
