School of Nursing and Midwifery

 

Established in 1991, the School of Nursing and Midwifery at North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences (NKUMS) began its academic journey by offering undergraduate programs in Nursing and associate degrees in Midwifery. Originally affiliated with Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, it gained autonomy following the establishment of NKUMS in 2005 after the separation of North Khorasan Province.

 

Since then, the school has grown significantly—both in academic offerings and infrastructure. It now hosts four academic departments and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in the following fields:

  • B.Sc. in Emergency Medical Services
  • M.Sc. in Geriatric Nursing

In 2011, the new campus of the school was inaugurated, featuring a 7,000 m² facility equipped with modern educational and support infrastructure:

  • 18 classrooms with multimedia tools (projectors, film screens)
  • A 130-seat amphitheater
  • Laboratories:

Parasitology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Physiology, Hematology, Histology, Pathology, Natural Products, and Cellular Research Labs

  • Computer Center:

220 m², 60-user capacity, full Wi-Fi coverage

  • Two reading halls and e-book room:

Over 13,000 Persian and 1,300 English titles, with access to 56 Persian and 9 international journals

  • Audio-visual unit:

Equipped with over 100 digital teaching tools

  • Central Cafeteria, Mosque, and Administrative Offices

 

Clinical Training & Skill Development:

The Clinical Skills Training Center (Skill Lab) consists of two fully equipped centers:

Skill Lab No. 1 (Located at the school) Includes stations for:

  • CPR & Trauma
  • Basic Nursing Skills
  • Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Surgical Skills
  • Drug Administration
  • Maternal Education

 

Skill Lab No. 2 (Located in Imam Hassan Hospital)

  • 500 m² simulation center with 11 exam rooms
  • Observation and quarantine zones
  • High-fidelity mannequins and simulators
  • Audio-visual surveillance and large display systems for OSCEs

Pharmaceutical Skills Center

  • Launched in 2016
  • Includes over 1,000 medications, simulation tools, refrigerators, and digital learning stations
